Kinley, how do you run so fast?

So, up front, I'll say this is Nate writing this...

The other day Kinley and Nolan were terrorizing the house running back and forth, back and forth. Finally, I had just about had enough and asked Kinley what she was doing.

Kinley - "I'm running fast, dad!"

Dad- "Well, how do you do that?"

Kinley - "Dad, to run fast, you have to look like this!"

Dad - "What do you mean?"

Kinley - "Dad, you have to make your face look like this so you can run fast" (come on dad, don't you know anything???)

Dad - "What kind of face is that?"

Kinley - "You have to make a mean face"

Dad - "Let me see"
Kinley, (and of course Nolan had to get in on the picture taking as well) -

What's a "Steak" say???

This afternoon we were eating lunch and Nate was asking the kids what various animals say..."Kinley, What does a chicken say?" "Bawk, Bawk," she answered. Since we were eating roast beef, he asked, "ok, smartie pants, what does a 'steak' say?" At first, she didn't know until Addie helped her out with a "Moo". He then asked, "what does a hot dog say?" to which Jenna quickly answered "ruff, ruff". Sometimes, kids are just a hoot!

PS This was really posted by Nate..Love how he made it look like I posted it:)

Yep..Today I did the happy Dance!

Yes today was the first day of school and enjoyed it too much. I shipped the girls off to school then made lunch arrangements with some dear friends, as well as babysitting arrangements and enjoyed a few hours with some girl talk. I enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks! I think I should do it more often actually, why did I have to wait until the first day of school?

At least you're Happy…

Each of the girls has a day that they are assigned to do the chore of the Kitchen. It really only requires loading and unloading the dishwasher. Sometimes they get lucky and have to only finish loading it and make sure it is started, other requires a little more effort. Jenna chose Thursdays for the Kitchen at the beginning of summer. One o’clock in the afternoon had come around and the dishwasher was clean and needed to be loaded and unloaded. She kept putting it off. We were planning on going to the movie but told her no movie unless the kitchen was done. ( YA know it is all about responsibility right). So as she is unloading she say…
Jenna: ”Do I have to load it too?
Mom: “Yes, that is part of the kitchen…”
Jenna: “ Uggg.Mom, Why can’t you do it for me?”
Mom: “ today is your day, Jenna. ”
Jenna: “Well when it is your day you seem to enjoy it you are always smiling and happy…”

All I have to say is at least Jenna thinks I enjoy cleaning the kitchen, and she sees joy on my face. And Yes I did end up helping her load the dishwasher.

In Lakeside for A Week!

We made our way to Pinetop for the 4th of July weekend. We enjoyed the cool pines. We started off the trip with the most beautiful nature picture. It rained on us for a good hour of the trip, which always makes me nervous when entering the Salt River Canyon. The rain had just lightened up right as we were entering the Canyon and was able to enjoy this.....
We loved every minute of it...the picture really didn't do it any justice but it was a full rainbow bright as ever. Kinley was so cute, She wanted to come back the next day and visit the rainbow. She expressed how she would "miss you rainbow." She was so grateful. She says "mom, thank you so much for finding me this rainbow." As we were coming home she woke up right before the canyon and said...mom did the rainbow come back to see us. The innocents of a child, too bad we can't keep that forever.
Yes, I did spend a whole week in Lakeside...Yes, I did have a camera....Did I take any other pictures. NO! We really didn't do anything exciting. We relaxed, read, played make believe. Really it amounted to a whole lot of nothing. We celebrated the 4th in style, and enjoyed the rest of the week...once againg. Doing nothing.

Finally the Pixs!

I know it was like two weeks ago I said I would post pictures of the Weekend visiting the mountains, but I am now just getting to it. We visited the Canyon Creek upper camp ground and spendt Thursday and Friday nights and all day Saturday. We loved every minute of it and weren't ready to come home. But the good old daily grind was calling our name. Plus we had to get ready for the next big weekend of visiting Lakeside for all of the 4th of July celebrations. So enough blah blah here is the picts. The kiddo's loved the fish hatchery....From the tiny fish to the Giant fish they fed everyone they could.

We headed to the creek and enjoyed the cool water. We played, splashed, cried, laughed, caught fish all of the above. It is funny how when the girls first fell in the water, it was like the end of the world, but after that who cares how wet you get...just strip off your clothes like Kinley did.
We enjoyed "Gourmet" food, of course we were camping. The Tire swing, nature hikes, Horney toads and the girls even put together and nice Nature museum. We learned about enjoying nature sounds, differnt beetle creatures, how to make art of nature. There really is something about taking your children out of their normal settings and letting them have new adventures.
